C/R: Man locks wife in hen coop for a year

The Kasoa Ofaakor district police command has arrested Vincent Antwi, a mason, for locking his wife (name withheld) in a hen coop for over a year.

The suspect, 38, locked up the victim in the coop at Awutu Papase, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of Central Region.

The Ofaakor district police commander, ASP Christopher Darkey, confirmed the arrest to Accra FM’s Opanyin Darko and explained that the case has been referred to Kasoa branch of DOVVSU for further investigation.

The accused told Accra News he locked up his wife in the coop because she was mentally ill and always destroyed property of neighbours whenever he left her alone for work.

The police are investigating the matter.
